Across Australia, there are a growing number of models of care specifically geared to providing culturally responsive care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, as well as non-Aboriginal women having Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander babies.
On this page we seek to outline your choices for culturally responsive support and care for pregnancy, birth and beyond.
This page came about following Episode 16 of the Birth Choices podcast, where we spoke with Res McCalman, a Ballardong woman, midwife and researcher who is part of the team who worked to implement the Baggarrook Yurrongi culturally inclusive caseload midwifery pilot program in Naarm. If you are aware of additional programs or services available in your state, please contact us and we will add them to the directory.
To find out more about the choices available in terms of model of care, visit our care provider choices page.
