Why choice in care provider matters

Your choice of care provider matters. We want you to feel held by your care provider, not just in birth but through each appointment in pregnancy and postnatally. We want you to have the A-team you deserve. A team that is there for you and not for the system.
Your choice of care provider can really set the trajectory for your birth, and your overall physical and emotional experience. Yet most people (very understandably) don’t know the full spectrum of options available to them. The education comes in too late (or what feels like too late), once key decisions have been made, or amazing practitioners are already full.
We want you to know that who you choose to be supported by, and where you birth, matters. We can see it in the Australian statistics, and in the research on outcomes between midwifery-led versus obstetric-unit care, and on outcomes depending on place of birth — from home, to birth centre, to hospital.
There are lots of choices available to you — they are not confined to the question of whether you do or do not have private health insurance (and don’t let that be your guiding force above all). We are currently in the process of compiling our key resources on your choices of care provider, and what the evidence says about certain models.
Get in touch to discuss your care provider options and what may be most aligned with your family and hopes for birth.
